The Training Program

In the spring semester, NYU undergraduates can apply for our 8-week Training Program, which provides an in-depth introduction to the Federal Reserve, the real economy, and financial markets. Participants will also learn technical skills for analyzing data, including Python and the Bloomberg Terminal.

No prior experience is required, but participants must have a strong sense of curiosity, a dedicated work ethic, and a willingness to learn. Students who complete the Training Program gain the opportunity to join the Competition Team, receive help with preparing and recruiting for finance internships, and connect with professionals who work in sell-side, buy-side, economic research, and Fed policy roles.

Program Structure:

Each weekly workshop has lessons and assigned readings on finance, macroeconomics, and central banking, with deliverables and quizzes to test participants' understanding. Deliverables include answering review questions and crafting write-ups using real-world data. The program culminates with an individual pitch on what the FOMC's policy decision should be, including an assessment of current and forecasted economic and financial conditions.
